Post Container gardening?
Anyone do this? My step-MIL gave me a pot of basil plants and I want to put them on the deck to grow. So I thought maybe I could do a couple more pots - maybe tomatoes or something? I have nver done container gardening though...

I do a little container gardening, but I used to do it all the time when I lived in my apartment. I had a great fruit crop. I grew herbs, peppers and Tomatoes. The only problem I had was in a storm I tried to always bring everything in for safety otherwise my pots would sometime get blown over, especially the little ones, but other than that I had a great success.

You can put LOTS of things in containers and grow them. A few pointers that I discovered over the years...Tomatoes get very top heavy and fall over by the end of summer very easily, and definately need cages. Everything needs LOTS of water toward the middle of summer when they are well rooted. Fertilize because they will use up most of what is in the potting soil by the middle of summer from leaching out when watering. Check out the library for any books if you don't want to invest in buying one.

THank you for all of the tips! I really wanted a "regular" garden, but there is a bunch of firewood in the spot I want it. *sigh*

Carter could come move the firewood for you. He loves doing that. Laughing

I would totally take you up on that except this firewood is still in the shape of trees, LOL! Stu still has to cut them into logs.
